George was born on December 31, 1931, in Carolina, TN, to the late Charles Wallace and Marie Stafford Jeffries. George moved with his family to the Nutbush community at the age of seven and was raised on the Stafford Farm. He worked for the city of Memphis at the Memphis Zoo and found great delight in caring for the animals. He loved his country and served in the United States Army. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
George asked that it be may be known by all that he and Billie wrote their own wedding vows. They asked that the Lord Jesus give them enough joy that they would always love and care for each other, and also that He give them enough heart aches to let them know that He was always there to help them through. May they walk together hand in hand in His love. May they serve Him happily, faithfully together until life is done, the sun is setting and until at last one shall lay the other at His feet.
George is survived by his wife, Billie Jeffries of Bells, TN; one son, Clinton Wallace Jeffries of Memphis, TN; and special friends, Mack and Glenda Bain, Barbara Bain, and Patricia Scarborough. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wallace Jeffries and Marie Stafford Jeffries.
Pallbearers for the service will be Tracy Bain, Brian Bain, Mike Bain, Mack Bain, Tim Turner, Taylor Sullivan.
Memorials may be given to the Trinity Cemetery, c/o Janet Willis, 437 Preston Dr., Brownsville, TN 38012.
