Fred Davis Hinsley

Fred Davis Hinsley, age 94, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024 in the Jackson Madison County Hospital following a short illness. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 5, at Brownsville Funeral Home located at 107 South Lafayette Avenue in Brownsville, Tenn. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:30 P.M. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 P.M. with Andy Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Brownsville.

 Left to cherish his memory is Fred Hinsley’s wife of 69 years, Ophelia Wilson Hinsley. Also two daughters are left: Freda Hinsley Goodwin (David) and Regina Hinsley Dahlquist. Two grandchildren, Joshua Caleb Goodwin and Christy Danielle Goodwin, are left with many wonderful memories. He also has many nieces and nephews that he has enjoyed: Cindy Ramseur, Lynn Correa, Michael Hinsley, Beth Wilson, Sandy Cates, Steve Wilson, and Carlton Gerrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Davis Hinsley and Nettie Jones Hinsley. His brother, Lawrence Edward Hinsley, also preceded him in death.

 Fred Hinsley was born at home on November 14, 1929 in Shepp, Tenn. He has lived, raised his family, farmed, and been happy in Shepp his entire life except two years served in the Army. During the Korean War he served from March 21, 1951 until February 14, 1953 while stationed in LaRochelle, France. 

 At age 17 he was baptized and remained faithful to the Lord his entire life. He attended Shepp Church of Christ with his family until 1974 when the Shepp congregation joined Stanton Church of Christ. Fred Hinsley has been a Christian, faithful husband, loving father and grandfather who will always be missed.
