Frances Rooks Mann passed away at the age of 103 on August 24, 2020. She was a resident of Sugar Creek Senior Living in Brownsville, TN, at the time of her death. Funeral Services for Mrs. Mann will be on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at 1:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church, Nutbush, TN, with burial to follow at Trinity Cemetery.
Frances (Franny) was born in Haywood County on April 6, 1917, to John Dunaway Rooks and Carrie Graves Rooks. She graduated from Haywood County High School in 1935 and attended Mississippi Synodical College in Holly Springs MS, where she earned her teaching degree. Prior to her marriage she taught third grade at the Forked Deer School.
Frances married Ray Paxton Mann in December of 1944 while he was serving in the US Navy. He later attended The University of Tennessee in Knoxville and from there they and their two daughters moved to Oak Ridge. The family resided there until 1964, when they moved to Memphis. After her husband’s death in 1976, Frances lived in Whitehaven until she moved to Brownsville in 1986.
Once back home, Frances resumed friendships with friends from her youth and made many new friends. She was a member of Brownsville Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling throughout the world and all fifty states with church members and other travel groups. She also enjoyed review clubs, playing cards and visiting family throughout the country.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paxton Mann and two brothers, Ned Rooks of Brownsville and Jack Rooks of Jackson, MS, and her son-in-law, Ronald Keith Weisinger.
Franny is survived by her two daughters Linda Weisinger Cramer (Bill) of Marietta, GA, and Betty Rhea Jones (Ben) of Mt. Laurel, NJ; grandchildren Stephanie Megan Jones and Ray Keith Weisinger (Kelly); and great grandchildren Roen Keith Weisinger and Naomi Frances Weisinger. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Eleanor Rooks of Sugar Creek in Brownsville, TN; and many nieces and nephews including Dr. Robert Rooks (Debby) of Brownsville, TN.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff and nurses of Sugar Creek Senior Living and to the attendants who lovingly cared for her during the last months of her life.
