Floye's Obituary Floye Hood Powell passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 6 at the Brownsville-Bells Funeral Homes, Brownsville, TN, with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday, March 5, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, James William and Mattie Verna McNair Hood; and husband William Horne Powell of Brownsville, Tennessee. She was born on January 26, 1912, in Memphis, Tennessee. Survivors: her daughter: Virginia Ann Powell Lewis and son-in-law Dr. Donald K. Lewis of Waco; grandson :William Scott Lewis and wife, Katherine of Dallas; granddaughter: Dr. Rebecca Lewis Kelso and husband, James of San Antonio; granddaughter: Bethany Lewis Badeaux and husband, Lee of Waco; great-grandchildren: Will, George, and Charlotte Lewis, Emily and Rebecca Badeaux, and John and Katherine Kelso; sisters: Rebecca Hood Freeman of Jackson, TN and Angeline Hood Batchelor and husband LeRoy of North Palm Beach, FL. She was a lifelong resident of Brownsville, TN until moving to Waco in 2000 to live with her daughter. She was a member of the Fourth Review Club, The United Methodist Women, and a dedicated, lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. She supported of all its activities including the McKinney Pals social group, and the Mildred Reid Sunday school class. Her special loves were church, family, friends and cooking. Read More Read Less
