Farris Mitchell Climer, age 83, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished member of the Brownsville community, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2025, in Memphis, Tennessee. Born on November 17, 1941, in Crockett County, TN, Farris lived a life that was filled with passion for his work, love for his family, and a deep commitment to his friends and neighbors. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lea & Simmons Funeral Home, located at 1280 S Dupree Ave, Brownsville, TN. The funeral service will take place the following day on January 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM, officiated by Bro. Lonnie Robinson and Bro. Mike Hickman, also at Lea & Simmons Funeral Home, followed by a burial at Brownsville Memorial Gardens at 3:00 PM.
Farris was known as a great excavator operator, a profession that showcased both his skill and dedication. His hands shaped the land around him, laying the groundwork for countless projects. Yet, it was not just his work ethic that left a mark but his kind personality as well. A true people person, Farris was loved by many. Friends and acquaintances spoke fondly of him as a good man who delighted in the company of those around him. He had a profound love for Haywood County, where he spent many joyful days with family and friends. Farris had diverse interests that filled his life with joy. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting, often relishing the tranquility of nature and the thrill of the hunt. These hobbies were a testament to his appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.
Family meant everything to Farris. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy Climer; his daughters, Karen Climer Strong and Sharon Climer King; his cherished grandchildren, Leann King and Morgan Ashley Burns, who is married to Justin; and his great-grandchildren, Jace and Jett Burns. Their lives were enriched by his unwavering support and affection.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Farris Waldon Climer and Evelyn Marguerite Pounds Climer, his brother, James Darrell Climer and his sister, Bonnie Jean Wilson. Though they have been separated by time, their memories live on through his family and the community that held him dear.
Farris Mitchell Climer will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, lived fully, and impacted the lives of those he encountered through kindness and service. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him. The family has requested that memorials be made to the Antioch Baptist Church, c/o Sherri Yanakopulos, 341 Baynes Rd., Brownsville, TN 38012. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
