Emory M. Davis (Emory) was born September 13, 1931, in Memphis Tennessee and died November 15, 2021, in Louisville, Kentucky. Emory is enjoying the place made for him in Heaven, which was prepared for him by Jesus Christ.
As a young boy, Emory moved with his parents, Emory Johnson Davis and Olivia Ann Moody, from Memphis to Brownsville, Tennessee. After graduating High School in Brownsville, Emory began his engineering studies at University of Tennessee, Martin, completing his Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1953. After graduating he began his career with Shell Chemical Company in Houston, Texas. Following Shell, Emory began to work for Celanese Corporation and worked in their Fibers, Chemicals, and Coatings divisions in various locations around the Unites States. Emory retired from Celanese in the mid 1980’s while living in Louisville. After retirement, Emory and Carol Davis, owned and operated two small glass companies in Louisville. A faithful Christian, Emory was a devoted member of Southeast Christian Church and studied for years as a member of Bible Study Fellowship. His warm demeanor, strong intellect, quick dry wit and humor endeared him to all he met. With the skill of a talented craftsman, Emory deeply enjoyed wood working in his extensive shop built over many years.
Emory was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest daughter Barbara June Davis Fitzgerald (Tom). Emory is survived by his wife, Carol Davis; his son, Robert (Bob) Davis (Rebecca); his daughter, Elizabeth Davis (Jeff Irish) and his stepson, Steven Jacques (Erin). He also leaves a legacy of eight grandchildren (Brian Fitzgerald, Beth Lodmell, Daniel Fitzgerald, Kate Fitzgerald, Jonathan Davis, Ryan Jacques, Nathan Beaumont, and Bryce Tjaden) and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Pearson’s Funeral Home (149 Breckenridge Lane, St. Matthews, KY 40207) Friday, November 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, November 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, Tennessee. Burial will follow in Brownsville Memorial Gardens. A visitation will begin on Monday, November 22, 2021, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Emory and his family would appreciate any donation to Wounded Warriors, St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN, or to Bible Study Fellowship. All arrangements and services are under the direction of Lea & Simmons Funeral Home, Brownsville, TN.
