Emmy's Obituary
Mrs. Emmy Jean Joyner, age 95 of Bells, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Bells Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Emmy was born January 16, 1922 in Bells to the late Raymond F. Dolfinger and Fay Harris Dolfinger. After graduating from Bells High School, she attended Sullins College, a two year School in Bristol, VA. Emmy later received her degree from Southwestern in Memphis in 1944. While at Southwestern, she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. Emmy taught second grade at Bells Elementary School for three years before retiring to become a full time mother and homemaker. She was a life long member of Bells First Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Lyman C. Joyner and a sister, Nancy Dolfinger Burgin.
Survivors include two daughters, Jennie Foust (Philip) of Bells and Cande Russell (Tommy) Jackson; sister, Debby Dolfinger Patrick (Bob) of Milan. She also leaves five grandchildren, Shannon McCarter (Kevin), Jared Foust (Marsha), Logan Foust (Kate), Erin Russell (fiance, Nick Nerren), Luke Russell (Caroline) as well as six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mrs. Emmy's life will be conducted Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Bells Funeral Home with Randy Jetton officiating. Burial will be in the Belleview Cemetery. The Joyner family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Bells First Christian Church or to the charity of the donor's choice in memory of Mrs. Emmy.
