Emma Jane Haralson Gorman went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ and her husband, the two loves of her life, on the evening of July 20, 2011 at her home in Brownsville, Tennessee. Mrs. Gorman was born February 13, 1929 in Brownsville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years John Peticolas Gorman, Sr. She is survived by her 5 children: John P. Gorman, Jr. (Myrna), Margaret Mahoney (Pat), Jane Dear (Steven), Clyde Gorman (Mary Anne) and Robert Gorman (Carlton), 13 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Emma Jane to her friends, Momma or Grandmamma to family, or GIGI, as she is known by her great grandchildren, loved her family, all children and was a kindergarten teacher for over 40 years. Witnessing the love of Christ both verbally and through her sweet, tender-hearted servant spirit, she ministered to so many with her gift of music. She will long be remembered for playing the piano at church and special events. A faithful member of Brownsville Baptist Church for 46 years, she was very involved in service and leadership of the Women's ministry at Brownsville Baptist Church. She was a member of and served in leadership roles in the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and was chosen Woman of the Year in 2005 by the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce. She also blessed many with her hobby of arranging and growing flowers.
A visitation for the Gorman family will be Saturday, July 23rd 2011 from 5 to 7 P.M. in the Brownsville Baptist Church.
