Elliot Long Sills

Elliot's Obituary Mr. Elliot Long Sills age 88 of Eads, formerly of Brownsville, passed away Wednesday July 20, 2016 in Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis. He was born July 23, 1927 in Brownsville to the late Abner and Willie Kate Cain Sills. He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II and later served his community as a police officer for the City of Memphis retiring at the rank of Captain. Mr. Sills attended Bartlett Woods Church of Christ where he served as a deacon since 1973. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Geneva Lonon Sills and Dorothy Hulett; two brothers and two sisters, Joseph Sills, Richard Sills, Jane Dowd and June Haisten. Survivors include a son, John Sills and wife Karen of Arlington; daughters, Diana Wilson and husband David of Millington and Patti Giesemann and husband Geoff of Georgia; brothers, Gene Sills of Texas and Billy Sills of Brownsville; sisters, Helen Prince of Brownsville and Regina Herron of Kansas; step-son, George Hulett of Arkansas; step-daughters, Cheryl Dennis of Bartlett and Donna Brantley of Arkansas. Other survivors include six grandchildren, fifteen step-grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, twenty-four step great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren as well as nine step great-great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers are John Coleman, Chuck Lonon, Travis Lonon, Don Medley, Lynn Nichols, Andy Sills, Robbie Sills and Gary Walls. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Curry, Jim Davis and Tommy Roberts. Funeral services for Mr. Elliot Long Sills, will be conducted Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Bartlett Woods Church of Christ with Ministers Jimmy Moffett, Stan Phipps and John Simpson officiating. The committal service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Brownsville Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.
