Eldridge Miller Edwards

Eldridge Anderson Miller Edwards, age 90 of Bells, passed away August 28, 2016, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Born in Brownsville, TN on March 13, 1926, she was preceded in death by her parents: Dr. W.R. Miller and Emma Haywood Anderson Miller, her husband of 65 years, Joe Aldon Edwards, Sr., brothers: Clopton Miller, Anderson Miller, , Jim Miller and sister: Cherry Lea. She is survived by sisters: Rivers Stephenson of Bells and Betty Hayes of Jackson and brother: William Roots Miller, Jr. of Brownsville. "El as many called her was first employed as a switchboard operator by Southern Bell Telephone Co. in Brownsville. She met her Navy man Joe and married on February 15, 1948. Later moving to the family farm they raised 5 children whom survive, Emily Haywood Edwards Griffin (Steve) Joe Aldon."Bud" Edwards, Jr. (Tina), Cherry Anne Rains, (Gerry, deceased) Andy M. Edwards (Donna) and John Harris Edwards (Emily Jane). The children kept her busy keeping "old Hwy 20" cool in the summer and hot in the winter, taking them to all their activities. A member of the Bells First United Methodist Church, the Fruitvale Home Demonstration Club and her favorite thing, riding weekends in the area horse shows. The love of the outdoors and horses has been passed on to her children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren. What a blessing and role model she has been to so many. To cherish her memories are grandchildren: Amy Griffin White (Keith), Allison Griffin Smith (Shane), Ashley Lilly, Joshua Garrett Edwards (Brooke), Kyle Franklin Edwards (Maegan), Adam Rains, Hunter Rains (Angele), Noah Rains (Jessica), Joel Edwards, Katelin Edwards (Wesley) and Kelsey Edwards, eleven great grand-children: Zachary White (Ariell), Quinton White, Ansley Smith, Corey Lawrence, Emily Ann Lawrence, Brylee Lilly, Phoenix Beaux Rains, Skyler Dakota Rains, Ethan Gerald Rains, Jasper Waldrop and Rylee King and her faithful companions: Domino & Lucy. A special thanks to her caregivers: Curlie Green, Mona Parker and Violet Simmons. Funeral Services were conducted Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Bells First United Methodist Church.
