Eddie Clay Smith

Eddie Clay Smith of Brownsville passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. He was 69 years of age. The family will hold a private graveside service with Bro. J. P. Barden officiating. Eddie was born on August 19, 1951, in Selmer, TN, to Alva and Nola Smith. He was married to Teresa Cross Smith for 24 years. He retired as the District Manager for Southwest Tennessee Electric Membership Corp. (STEMC). He was a member of New Vision Baptist Church and found great fulfillment in serving the Lord through the church. He loved life, and he made a great impact on this community. His family and friends were important to him, and he cherished the times they were together. He had a passion for gardening, he enjoyed fishing, and he delighted in being outdoors and observing the beauty of nature. He always looked forward to his weekly luncheons at First Presbyterian Church in Brownsville. Eddie is survived by his dear wife, Teresa Cross Smith of Brownsville, TN; two daughters, Jordan Clagg (Chad) and Lisa Deming, both of Brownsville, TN; and three wonderful grandchildren, Carlisle, Emma, and Hadley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Nola Jones Smith; two stepsons, Christopher Bolin and Joseph Owens, II and one sister, Shelia Smith. All services and arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
