Dorris Douglas Wright

Mrs. Dorris Wright, age 100, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 in the Sugar Creek Retirement Center, Brownsville. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Presbyterian Church in Brownsville. Burial will follow at 2:30 P.M. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. A visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in the First Presbyterian Church. Dorris was born in Blytheville, AR to Frank and Lois Douglas. She went to Hendrix College in Conway, AR and after her children were grown, she got her degree from Memphis State. She began a 30 plus year teaching career both in Memphis and Jackson. She married Marion Wright in 1937 and he pre-deceased her in 2011 after 73 years of marriage. She is survived by her children: Gail Hopper (Benny) and Doug Wright (Jane), seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a sister: Mrs. Paul Aldredge. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to: First Presbyterian Church, 109 West College St., Brownsville, TN 38012. You may designate for the Mexican Mission Trip.
