Dorothy Eloise Rainey Edwards of Germantown, TN passed away on May 3, 2024, at the age of 89. A Celebration Service of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 12 Noon at Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church in Germantown, TN with Rev. William Spink, Jr. and Rev. Tommy Lee officiating. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, beginning at 11:00 AM until 12 Noon at Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church in Germantown, TN. The burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Brownsville, TN beginning at 3:30 PM.
She was born in Brownsville, TN and attended Haywood County High School. She met her husband while attending Memphis State College, and she served as bookkeeper for his business for many years. "Mrs. Dot" touched many lives for years through her volunteer work as yearbook sponsor and kindergarten assistant for Evangelical Christian School. She was a member of Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church of Germantown. She loved her family camping and lake trips. She loved tending to her azaleas, dogwoods, and buttercups. Above all, she loved her Lord, her friends, and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 61 years, Brady Higgins Edwards; brother, Robert L. "Bobby" Rainey, MD; mother, Mary Kate Kelso Rainey, and father, Robert E. Rainey.
She leaves behind her three children, Amy Edwards Galyen (Tommy) of Germantown, TN, Carl Edwards (Stacey) of Jonesboro, AR, and Mark Edwards of Germantown, TN. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Sarah Beth Maynard (David) of Brentwood, TN, Scott Galyen of Bartlett, TN, John Galyen (Ashley) of Millington, TN, and Mitchell Edwards of Dallas, TX; six great-grandchildren, Jacob Maynard, Luke Maynard, Ella Kate Maynard, Brady Galyen, Lee Galyen, and Skott Galyen.
Pallbearers for the service will be Thomas Galyen, Scott Galyen, John Galyen, Carl Edwards, Mitchell Edwards, and David Maynard. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
