On Friday, September 3, 2021, Dessie Octavia (Morris) Rains, known as Pat or Patsy to her family and friends, joined her beloved husband Larry in eternal rest on the 38th anniversary of their wedding day. She passed away peacefully at her home with loved ones by her side. She was one of 8 siblings, and is preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Pat was born on September 11, 1943 in Truman, Arkansas to Inamay Christine (Skaggs) and Cecil Elmer Morris. Her contagious smile and joyous laughter will be warmly remembered by those who knew her as their loving sister, mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and neighbor. She was a talented beautician for many years, discovered adventure through world travel, expressed her creativity through paintings and colorful flower gardens, and would get a little too excited at times about Tennessee football and Memphis basketball games. Most of all Pat leaves us with the gift of love and devotion to her family, each of whom held a treasured place in her heart. That love will forever be a blessing to all who were part of her fulfilling and happy life.
Pat is survived by her Sisters: Debbie Hoard (Elvie) and Phyllis Metzer (Harold); Children: Donna Red, Bennie (Skipper) D. Poe, Jr. (Becky); Jason Rains (Anita), Amy Williams (Mark); Grandchildren: Robert Red, Timothy (TJ) Red (Amanda); Trey Poe (Katie), Baylee, Neena, and Brenlee Poe; Meg Johnson (Blake) RJ, Hunter, and Abbie Rains, Elizabeth, Rachel, and Evan Williams; and Great-grandchildren: Asher and Ember; Alysa, PJ, and Ethan; Elizabeth, Ben, and Logan; Jacob.
