Derrick Wayne Stanley

August 31, 1968 — August 28, 2019

Derrick Wayne Stanley of Atlanta, Georgia went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2019.  Born in Brownsville, Tennessee 50 years ago, Derrick grew up in Hendersonville then graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Communications.  He led a rich, fulfilled life with many friends and his soulmate, Michael Clark.

Derrick is preceded in death by his husband, Michael.  He is survived by his twin brother, Eric (Melissa) Stanley of Portland, Tennessee and sister, Carrie Beth Stanley (Keith) Prilliman of Austin, Texas.  

He leaves behind his loving mother, Dorothy Swain (Bob) Wells of Jackson, Tennessee and father, Anthony (Saundra) Stanley of Knoxville, Tennessee.  His blended and extended family of Jonathan (Robbie) Stanley, Shea (J J) Whaley, Jameson Clark, Amy Clark Burnes, Nathan Clark, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandchildren will cherish their memories of Derrick’s compassion and caring manner.

Derrick is loved by many and his untimely departure leaves a hole in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him.  A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 1 PM in Christ Church of Brownsville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christ Church of Brownsville, P.O. Box 1522, Brownsville, TN 38012 or donor’s choice of any nonprofit organization.
