Mr. Dalton Derwood Foster, age 89, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Northbrook Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Jackson, TN. Graveside services for Mr. Foster will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Brownsville Memorial Gardens with Rev. Richard Dickerson, officiating.
Dalton Foster was born on March 9, 1931, in Haywood County to Kan and Janey Mae Foster. He was retired from the State of Tennessee Highway Dept. He also worked through the years as a farmer and was owner of Mann’s Grocery. He loved his family very much and will long be remembered as one who was loyal, and one who had a big heart for caring for his family. He had a passion for buying and selling cars, and a love for animals. He was a member of Shaw’s Chapel Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Francine Haynes (Cooper) and one sister, Betty Austin, both of Oakfield, TN; two grandchildren, Danelle Haynes and Jeff Perry; two great-grandchildren, Jeff Perry, Jr. and Tiffany Perry; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Mae Foster; his parents Kanada and Janey Mae Forsythe Foster; three brothers, John Foster, Dewitt Foster, and Joe Foster, and one sister, Hattie Jane Stewart.
Pallbearers for the service are Jeff Perry, Kenneth Austin, Wayne Austin, Mark Foster, Jimmy Foster, and Jeff Perry, Jr., Jeff Stewart and Freddie Stewart. The family has requested memorials be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
