Cayce Nanney, age 71, passed his earthly home to gain Jesus in Heaven on November 7, 2023, at 11:30 P.M. at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Bells First Baptist Church, with Bro. Mark Wade officiating. Burial to follow in the Gadsden Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Bells First Baptist Church from 12:00 P.M. until the service hour at 2:00 P.M.
Mr. Cayce was born on September 10, 1952, to the late Donald Wright Nanney and Harriet Florence Edwards Nanney. Cayce worked for Crockett County EMS as an EMT-IV Certified with 30 years of service, the Crockett County Jail for four years, and Alamo Construction Company. He had his own handyman business and other various jobs. He was a hard worker, dedicated and trustworthy. He was in his third term as Crockett County Commissioner. He always voted with his heart, not politics.
Bells First Baptist Church holds a special place in his heart. He was a dedicated member, and loved his SALT Sunday School Class, Pastor, and staff, and helping in the nursery.
Cayce loved life, his family and his “Nan-Farm”! He was an avid hunter, mainly deer and turkey, fishing, trot lines and crappie fishing. He loved being in “the bottom”, South Forked Deer River and Hatchie River.
Also preceding him in death is one sister: Brenda Nanney Fergie; one brother: Robert “Dee” Nanney; and his first-born son: Joshua Nanney.
Cayce leaves behind his wife of 42 years: Kim Nanney of Bells, TN; one daughter: Michele Nanney of Gadsden, TN and her two children: Camille and Nicholas Ivie; two sons: Drew Nanney and Caleb Nanney of Bells, TN; one brother: Donald Nanney (Joyce) of Bells, TN; He also leaves a host of extended family and friends, his horse “Jack”, his mini horses, and most recently his constant companion, his puppy “Little Bit”. Also, the special “Grandchildren of our hearts” Riley and Reese Turner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Bells First Baptist Church.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Moore, John Michael Moore, Barry Ward, Keith Stephenson, Jordan Lynn, Kelsey Schweitzer and Lloyd Nanney. Honorary Pallbearers are Randy Perry, Jay Nance, Bobby Goode and Daniel Haley.
