Mr. John “Buck” Freels, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. His “Homegoing Celebration” Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 1:00 PM at the Harmony Baptist Church with Bro. Grover Westover and Bro. Adrian Knipper officiating. Visitation for Buck will be held two hours prior to the service at 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Harmony Baptist Church. Interment will be at the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
Buck Freels was born on August 22, 1936 in Haywood County. He worked as a farmer his entire life harvesting cotton and raising cattle and pigs. He was a lifelong member of Harmony Baptist Church. He enjoyed his family, and his children and grandchildren. He found fulfilment and joy in his service to the Lord at Harmony Baptist Church as a Deacon and serving as a Youth Fellowship Leader at the church.
He is survived by two sons, Greg Freels (Debbie) of Whiteville, TN, Ken Freels (Mary) of Whiteville, TN, one daughter, Ginger Prince (Frankie) of Dancyville, TN, two sisters, Martha Jean Faught (David) of Oakland, TN, Betty Hayes of Whiteville, TN, and one brother-in-law, Bubba Goodman. He leaves a legacy of six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dixie Stuart Freels, his parents, John F. and Annie Bell Freels, four sisters, Gracie Buchanan, Lucille Johnson, Lillie Bell Goodman, and Willie Sue Jeter.
Pallbearers for the service will be Hunter Freels, John Freels, Ethan Williams, Kevin Knipper, Tommy Johnson, and Terry Goodman. Honorary Pallbearers will be the nephews, Mike Johnson, Gaylon Johnson, Ricky Joe Hayes, James Davis, and Marv Johnson.
