Brady Higgins Edwards, of Germantown, died Tuesday, February 2nd, at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Dorothy Rainey Edwards. Survivors also include 3 children, Amy Edwards Galyen (Tommy) of Germantown, Dr. Carl Edwards (Stacey), of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Mark Edwards of Germantown. Mr. Edwards had four grandchildren, Sarah Beth Galyen Maynard (David) of Brentwood, Tennessee, Scott Galyen of Dallas, Texas, John Galyen of Germantown, and Mitchell Edwards of Fayetteville, Arkansas. He had five great grandchildren, Jacob, Luke, and Ella Kate Maynard, all of Brentwood, and Brady and Skott Galyen of Dallas. His parents, Reavis H. Edwards and Burlynn Higgins Edwards of Lewisburg, Tennessee, preceded him in death.
Born in Wartrace, Tennessee, he graduated from Marshall County High School. He moved to Memphis to attend Memphis State College in 1952. He met his bride-to-be while attending college there. Mr. Edwards began his business career as a salesman for S.C. Toof and Company while still attending school. He then answered a request to join Joseph A. Bassi as a partner in The Office Supply Company of Memphis, Inc. The partners operated that company for 35 years. In 1990, Mr. Edwards joined former friends and fellow S.C. Toof employees at Business Products, Inc. He later joined Diversified Office Products, and continued his career in office supplies, printing, and equipment until retiring in July of 2015. His business career spanned 62 years.
Mr. Edwards was a faithful member of RiverOaks Reformed Presbyterian Church. Although his faith, family, and friends were most important, he delighted in his customers, business associates, and his boat.
Visitation will be at 12 pm Saturday with the funeral service following at 1 pm at RiverOaks Reformed Presbyterian Church, Reverend William Spink, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 pm in Oakwood Cemetery, Brownsville, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to RiverOaks Reformed Presbyterian Church, Evangelical Christian School, Baptist Reynolds Hospice House or charity of your choice.
