Bonnie Jean Poindexter Harwell, age 82, of Brownsville, TN went to her heavenly home on July 6, 2016 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's and complications from pneumonia.
She was born on July 8, 1933 in Brownsville to the late Fred and Dollie Scallions Poindexter. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Hershel and Charles Poindexter; and three sisters, Hazel Escue, Mildred Cogburn, and Marjorie Brooks.
Bonnie loved children and touched many lives during her 30 years working for the Haywood County School Food Service with 21 of those years serving as Cafeteria Manager of Anderson Campus Café. She enjoyed fishing, spending time on the TN River, taking pictures and being outdoors. Bonnie was a member of Brownsville Baptist Church.
Bonnie leaves behind her devoted husband of 66 years, Wiley Harwell; three sons: Joe, Jerry (Debbie) and Mark (Sylvia) Harwell all of Brownsville; four grandchildren: Natalie (Eagle) Lane of Brownsville, Joseph Harwell of Franklin, Dan (Alli) Harwell of Jackson, and Ashley (Brad) Richardson of Brownsville; and four great-grandchildren: Matthew and Ella Harwell, Bennett Lane and Waylon Richardson; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN on July 7, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., July 8, 2016 in the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Brown and Rev. Bob Connerley officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in the Belle Eagle Community.
