Bobby's Obituary
Mr. Robert Lee (Bobby) Cox age 85 of Bells, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 in Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born May 12, 1932 in Crockett County to the late Hubert and Beatrice Green Cox. Mr. Cox was a 1950 graduate of Alamo High School. He worked for the Memphis City Board of Education for thirty years and was a member of Local 474 for sixty years. He attended Bells First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded two sisters and a brother, Marjorie Thompson Vaughn, Jane Thompson-Fletcher and L.H. Sonny Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Bess Craig Cox of Bells; two daughters and a son, Lea Davis and husband Scott of Knoxville, Hope Byrum of Bells and Craig Cox of Brownsville. Other survivors include six grandchildren, Heather Davis of Nashville, Joshua Davis of Knoxville, Brittany Taylor of Bells, Sara Patterson and husband Trent of Gadsden, Bobby Cox of Alamo and Robby Cox of Brownsville as well as three great grandchildren Landon Runions, Jesse Patterson and Waylon Patterson.
Serving as pallbearers are his grandchildren and honorary pallbearers are his colleagues of Memphis City Board of Education.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, July 28, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with burial to follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m.
