Billy's Obituary Mr. Billy Harris Garrett, Sr. age 79 of Brownsville, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at his residence. Billy was born in Lauderdale County on October 12, 1937 to the late John Harris Garrett and wife, Wilma Nell Parker Garrett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Edward Allen Garrett; sister, Patricia Pate and a brother, David Gene Garrett. Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Jessie Mae Scallions Garrett; three sons, Billy H. Garrett, Jr. (Vickie), John William Garrett and Steven O’Neal Garrett all of Brownsville; daughter, Michelle Garrett Powell (David) of Paris; four sisters, Frances Wilson of Texas, Phyllis Cobb of Brownsville, Carolyn Brown of Florida and Brenda Kendrick (Doug) of Brownsville. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Brittney Garrett Buchanan (Jonathan), Dr. Hunter Garrett (Currant), Caitlin Garrett Goodman (D.L.), Braxton Bolton, John Garrett, Jr., Lindsey Mann and Morgan Mann as well as four great grandchildren, Abigail, Clayton, Emma Kate and Avri. Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Garrett, Braxton Bolton, John Garrett, Jr., Jose Caletre, David Powell and Jonathan Buchanan. Funeral services for Mr. Billy Harris Garrett, Sr. will be conducted Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Brownsville Funeral Home with Mark Pendergrass and Bro. Bob Connerley officiating. Burial will follow at Brownsville Memorial Gardens.
