Betty Sue Walker Boyd

Betty Sue Walker Boyd, age 91, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, in Brownsville, TN. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. in the Sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church of Brownsville, TN with Dr. Joe Pettigrew officiating. Burial to follow at the Historic Oakwood Cemetery of Brownsville, TN. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church from 11:30 A.M. until the service time at 1:00 P.M.

Mrs. Betty was born in Berry’s Ferry, KY, on October 27, 1933, to the late Charles Henry Walker and the late Lizzie Jane Jaco Walker. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brownsville, TN. Mrs. Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed music, from Elvis Presley to The Three Tenors and was a passionate fan of John Wayne and Audie Murphy. She also enjoyed spending time at the lake house and watching western movies. She was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Bland Peter Boyd, IV; five brothers: Charles Walker, Ralph Walker, Alvin Walker, Asa Walker and infant brother; five sisters: Addie Lee Tushner, Faye Goff, Helen McAllister, Lois Stewart and Mamie Jackson; and one grandson, Patrick Conlin King.

She is survived by four daughters: Linda Baxter (Larry) of Brownsville, TN, Barbara King (John) of Cordova, TN, Beverly Neighbors (Pat) of Paris, TN, Donna Boyd of Germantown, TN; She leaves a legacy of four grandchildren: Mary Elizabeth King, Caroline Marie Maldonado (Jorge), Boyd Neighbors (Amanda), Lee Neighbors (fiancée -Julia Steffens); and one great-grandson, Will Neighbors.

Serving as Pallbearers are Larry Baxter, Pat Neighbors, Boyd Neighbors, Lee Neighbors, Billy Wright, Boyd Wright, Rodney Wright and Allen Wright. Honorary Pallbearers are John King, Tim Hatch and Jorge Maldonado.

The family wishes to thank the loving and compassionate care that she received at Sugar Creek Senior Living, Haywood County Community Hospital and from Dr. Jason Goolsby.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 109 West College St., Brownsville, TN 38012, or Proteus Syndrome Foundation, 8485 Dulwich Road, Cordova, TN 38016. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
