Betty Jo's Obituary
Ms. Betty Jo Duvall Allor, age 62, passed away at her home in Brownsville, TN, Sunday, September 6, 2009, after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Lewis Enloe Duvall and Mrs. Bernice Campbell Duvall. Ms. Allor was born January 9, 1947 in the Lightfoot Community of Lauderdale County, TN and spent her childhood in Brownsville. She retired June 30, 2005 as Supervisor and Technical Advisor for the Foreclosure Department of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Department in Baton Rouge, LA. After returning home to Brownsville, she enjoyed working as a guard for her nephew's company, Maxxguard Security Co. of Jackson, TN. She was known for her generosity, her love of animals, and her joy in reading and studying. Ms. Allor was a member of Allen Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the Brownsville Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Kilpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Ms. Allor leaves her sisters, Ann Duvall Harrell of Medina, TN and Carolyn Duvall of Brownsville, TN; a niece: Kimberly Cartwright Lax and her husband, Frankie, of Medina, TN; a nephew: Jimmy Lewis Duvall of Bells, TN; and a great-niece: Anna Caroline Lax of Medina, TN. Memorials may be made to the Haywood County Humane Society or to the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in the Brownsville Funeral Home.
