Alystine Hare

Mary Alystine DeShazo Hare, age 80, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 in the Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. She was born May 6, 1931 in Memphis, TN to Reverend Hasey Jefferson (Jack) DeShazo and Mary Naomi Graham DeShazo. Alystine attended Lambuth College where she earned her teaching certificate. She met her life partner Rev. Clarence E. "Lefty" Hare, Jr. at Lambuth, they married September 2, 1951 and started their 55 years of marriage and ministry. Alystine worked various jobs but her main focus was her family and husband's ministry throughout the Memphis Conference of the United Methodist Church. Alystine was known for her sweet nature and great sense of humor. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and a brother-in-law, Bob Hare. She is survived by her children, C. Edward Hare III (Ginger), DeAnne Hare Sharp (Bob), Paul DeShazo Hare, Sr. (Ruth), all of Jackson, TN and Charlotte Hare Kerr (Jeff) of Burlington, N.C.; Grandchildren: Ben Sharp (Misty), John Sharp (Chasidi), Katie Hare Creswell (Phillip), Clarence E. "Lance" Hare, IV, Adam Kerr, Daniel Kerr, Paul Hare, Jr. and Matthew Hare; Great-Grandchildren: River Sharp, Canyon Sharp, Preston Creswell and Jane Sharp; Sisters: Joyce DeShazo McSwain (Harold), Columbus, OH and Phyllis Ann DeShazo, Memphis, TN.; Sister-in-law, Linda Hare and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, January 9, at 11 AM in the First United Methodist Church, in Brownsville, TN. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 PM in Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson, TN. A visitation for the Hare family will be Sunday evening, January 8th, from 4 to 7 PM and Monday, Jan. 9, at 10 AM until service time at 11 AM, in the First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to First United Methodist Church, Reelfoot Rural Ministries or Lakeshore United Methodist Assembly.
