Alfred Lee Graves (Billy), age 85, a resident of Brownsville, TN, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022. Memorial Services to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 12:00 Noon at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home Chapel in Brownsville, TN.
Alfred Lee Graves (Billy) was born August 19, 1936, the oldest of fourteen children to Lorenza Graves Sr. and Emma Sue Graves.
He married Guster B. (Bond) Graves on September 16, 1956, and to that union one child was born, Calvin Lee Graves. Later, he was blessed with the birth of a daughter, Freddie Mae Lowery.
He attended Whitefield Technical School where he earned a certificate as a plumber. Growing up he had many great talents without any formal training. He taught himself to play the harmonica, tap dance, sing, and the artistry of sculpting with wire. He had great visions of things he liked and would aspire to do.
He leaves to mourn his passing, a son, Calvin Lee Graves; five brothers, Lorenza (Antionette) Graves, Levornia (Nell) Graves, Lonnie D. Graves (Carolyn Murphy), Otis Dean (Christean) Graves, Alphonia Graves; four sisters, Maggie (Willie D.) Jones, Bertha (Graves) Abel), Clora (Graves) Cunningham and Cynthia Graves-Parker; three sisters-in-law, Ethel Graves, Judy Graves and Linda Graves. He was blessed with five wonderful grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Freddie Mae (Muffy/Queen) Lowery; his father, Lorenza Graves, Sr.; his mother, Emma Sue Graves. His brothers, Eldridge (Duke) Graves Sr., Larry Graves, Alvester (Butch) Graves and Earl Thomas (Tom) Graves.
The Graves family would like to thank everyone for their cards, phone calls, and support during these difficult times. There will be Repast at (WOW Building), 100 Boyd Ave., Brownsville, TN.
