Mr. Albert "Shorty" Franklin Smith, Jr., age 86 passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 in the Tennessee Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 27, 2012 in the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Trinity Cemetery, Nutbush, TN. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, August 26, 2012 in the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife: Norma Lee Smith; his parents: Albert Franklin Smith, Sr., and Ethel Stephens Smith; two brothers: James L. Smith and Floyd H. Smith and one sister: Olga Ann Sellari. He is survived by two sons: Franklin Smith and Steve Smith (Cindy), both of Brownsville, TN; one daughter: Lynn Prussia (Steve), Conroe, TX; one brother-in-law: Ike Sellari, one sister-in-law: Jackie Smith; five grandchildren: Lauren Morris (Jason), Jenny Helms (Andy), Freeman Smith, Whitney Prussia and Elam Smith; and three great grandchildren: Ella Morris, Maddie Morris and Izzy Helms.
Shorty worked for Sunshine Cleaners, owned Stanton Cleaners, owned Smith's Cleaners and served as Register of Deed's for 20 years. He spent his life in public service; boy scout leader, baseball coach, baseball umpire, a member of the Jaycee's, Moose Lodge and the Brownsville Country Club. He enjoyed life and loved his family. He never met a stranger. He was a wonderful Daddy and Pops.
